Philosophy
1770 Distillery was established as a Boutique Distillery to utilise the locally grown fruits of the area and to provide a unique experience for both locals and tourists. It was John’s dream to have a distillery and that is what led both John & Debra to the beautiful seaside Town of 1770 / Agnes Water in Queensland. The dream materialized after being bitten by the distilling bug whilst living in Tasmania. It was there that both John & Debra developed their distilling skill under the ever watchful eye of both Bill & Lyn Lark of the Lark Distillery.
Our Liqueurs
At 1770 Distillery we make unique fruit liqueurs made with fresh locally grown ingredients.
Our liqueurs are our visions. If you don’t have dreams and visions then you never strive to achieve the better things in life.
Sitting by the fire on a cold night surrounded by friends. This was our vision and that is how Daybreak was born. A drink to warm the cockles of your heart whilst whiling away the night time hours, this is what this drink is about. Not just a drink but a warming memory.
Sunset – you’ve worked hard all day and need to chill out. Then this drink will refresh you to get on with the night ahead. Made of Grapefruit, Bush lime and ginger.
Open Days
Our distillery is open Thursday through to Sunday. We are closed Mon, Tues & Wed. Our operating hours for the distillery are 10am to 4pm daily.
We are closed Good Friday, Anzac Day and Christmas Day.
Tastings are free*. So why not drop in and experience something different whilst in 1770/Agnes Water.
* Groups incur small tasting charge which is then deducted from bottle price upon purchase.
The Making
The making of our liqueurs is as an age old artisan skill handed down by generations of ardent distillers. We make all of our liqueurs in hand made copper pot stills.
We believe copper based stills offer the opportunity to produce a finer liqueur.
The use of fresh ingredients also adds to the unique quality and flavour. All of our liqueurs are made with fresh fruits, herbs and spices.
